Organic Wild-Harvested Chaga, 8:1 Dual Extract Capsules

Chaga grows wild on birch, developing slowly over years before it is ready to harvest.

That patience is the point. Chaga is not the mushroom you take for how it makes you feel this afternoon. It is the one you take steadily, for the long stretch.

One capsule. No measuring, no mixing. One capsule a day, for antioxidants that help protect your cells against free radicals. A small thing you do for yourself, on purpose.

The Mushroom

Getting to know Chaga

What is Chaga?

Chaga is a mushroom known scientifically as Inonotus obliquus. Unlike the cap-and-stem mushrooms most people picture, Chaga forms a dark, cracked mass on the side of a living birch tree. It looks more like charred bark than a traditional mushroom.

Our Chaga is wild-harvested from birch forests in China, where it has a long history of traditional use. Today, Chaga is available in many forms: powder, extract, capsules, tea and tincture. Those products can differ in source material, processing method and concentration. Understanding what is actually in your Chaga product matters more than the name on the label.

Why Chaga?

The black, cracked exterior of Chaga is distinctive for a reason. That dark outer crust develops over the years Chaga spends growing on birch trees, and it contains melanin, a naturally occurring pigment researched for its antioxidant properties. This is one reason people look to Chaga as a rich source of antioxidants.

Why a Dual Extract?

Chaga contains naturally occurring compounds with different solubility characteristics, which is why we use a dual extraction process. Hot water helps break down Chaga's tough structure and extract water-soluble compounds, including beta-glucans. Alcohol allows us to extract other naturally occurring compounds, including triterpenes and betulinic acid, a compound closely associated with birch.

We put our Chaga through both extraction steps before concentrating the final extract to an 8:1 ratio. Using both methods allows us to extract compounds with different solubility characteristics rather than relying on a single extraction method.

Not every mushroom needs dual extraction. We choose the extraction method based on the specific mushroom and what we want to extract from it.

Mushroom Math

What does 8:1 actually mean?

An extract ratio tells you how much dried mushroom was used to make the finished extract.

For Chaga, 8:1 means 8 grams of dried Chaga are used to produce 1 gram of extract.

Each capsule contains 450 mg of extract, with a Quantity Crude Equivalent (QCE) of 3,600 mg.

That does not mean there are physically 3,600 mg packed into the capsule. It means the 450 mg of concentrated extract was made using the equivalent of 3,600 mg of dried Chaga.

  • Look for wild-harvested Chaga sclerotia from birch
  • Like knowing the extract ratio and beta-glucan content before you buy
  • Prefer capsules to mixing or measuring
  • Look for USDA Organic Certified and third-party tested mushroom supplements

The Difference

What are fruiting bodies, and what is mycelium?

Mycelium

The root-like network living underground or through wood, spreading unseen

vs
Fruiting body mushroom icon

Fruiting Body

The visible mushroom, the part that produces spores

Think of an apple tree

The tree, roots and all → that’s the mycelium

The apple → that’s the fruiting body

Both belong to the same organism, but they are different parts of it.

Why this matters in a supplement

Mycelium needs a food source to grow. In commercial mushroom production, it is often grown on a grain substrate such as rice or oats. The mycelium grows through that grain, and when the two are harvested and processed together, some of the grain becomes part of the finished powder.

A fruiting body product is made from the mushroom itself, without the growing substrate. That is why it is worth checking which part of the fungus a mushroom supplement is made from.

Chaga is a little different

Chaga is often grouped into the fruiting-body side of this conversation because it is the part of the fungus people recognize and harvest. Technically, though, the dark mass that grows on birch is a sclerotium, not a traditional fruiting body.

Our Chaga extract is made from wild-harvested Inonotus obliquus sclerotia from birch.

The Eversio Experience Podcast

Chaga Mushroom Masterclass

Chaga is one of the most visually distinctive functional mushrooms, and its story starts with the birch tree it grows on.

In this episode, Brandi and Dr. Desiree take a deeper look at Inonotus obliquus, the sclerotium that forms on birch, the compounds researchers study in Chaga, and why Eversio uses a dual-extraction process.

They also explore what to look for in a Chaga supplement, from source material and extraction to beta-glucan content and testing.

Important things to know

Why Beta-Glucans Matter

Beta-glucans are naturally occurring polysaccharides found in mushrooms and one of the useful markers we can measure when evaluating a mushroom extract.

Not all polysaccharides are beta-glucans. This distinction matters particularly with mycelium grown on grain. When the mycelium and its grain substrate are processed together, polysaccharides from the grain can contribute to the total polysaccharide measurement. A product can therefore report a high percentage of total polysaccharides without that number telling you how much is actually mushroom beta-glucan.

That is why we look specifically at beta-glucans, rather than total polysaccharides, when evaluating a mushroom product.

Just seeing Chaga on a label does not tell you how much beta-glucan is actually in the finished product. Eversio Chaga is standardized to 40% beta-D-glucans, verified batch by batch.

Antioxidants and Free Radicals

Free radicals are unstable molecules your body produces as a normal part of being alive. Breathing, digesting and moving all generate them, while things like sun exposure and pollution can contribute more.

Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals before they can damage cells, and your body draws on them every day.

Chaga is a source of antioxidants that helps protect cells against free radicals. This is one of the reasons people choose to give it a consistent place in their routine.

Chaga lifestyle

The Ritual

Your Daily Chaga

1

Pair it

Keep the jar beside something you already do every morning, the coffee, the kettle, the vitamins.

2

Take it

One capsule, a glass of water, done.

3

Forget about it

No window to hit and nothing to monitor. Come back tomorrow.

Chaga is built to disappear into the day you already have.

There is no best time and no schedule to keep, which means there is nothing to get wrong. Most people keep it next to the coffee, take it when they get there, and do not think about it again until the same time tomorrow.

Consistency matters more than timing. Choose the moment that already exists in your routine rather than making a new one, because the whole point of Chaga is the long stretch rather than any single capsule.
