Stepping Outside the Matrix: Our Joe Dispenza Retreat Experience

Introduction: Healing, Change, and the Quantum Field

At Eversio Wellness, our mission is rooted in transformation—the Latin word "Eversio" itself means change. So when Dr. Desiree Caruso, ND, and I had the opportunity to attend a Joe Dispenza Week-Long Advanced Retreat, it felt like a deeply aligned next step. We returned from this life-altering experience buzzing with insights on meditation, neuroscience, quantum physics, and self-healing. This post captures the science, the structure, and the magic of those seven powerful days. If you've ever questioned whether your thoughts can change your biology, keep reading.

Why Joe Dispenza?

My journey with Dr. Joe began with a podcast recommendation from a close friend and quickly evolved into reading his books like You Are the Placebo and Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself. Dr. Desiree and I have both been long-time followers of his work. His research and methods speak directly to the values we hold at Eversio Wellness: the belief that healing and transformation are not only possible but are our innate rights.

His documentary film The Source (link in show notes) explores the science behind healing and offers a comprehensive look into what unfolds at these retreats. However, what we want to share with you is the unscripted, behind-the-scenes version—what it really feels like to walk through seven days of immersive healing.

Preparing for the Retreat

Before stepping into the retreat, participants must complete an online intensive course that introduces Dr. Joe’s core concepts and meditation practices. We arrived already seasoned in his methods, which made a huge difference. Some attendees skipped this crucial step and appeared lost, unable to fully absorb the experience. Preparation matters. If you’re planning to attend, do the pre-work. Take the course. Meditate. Set clear, personal intentions.

Functional Mushrooms and Our Daily Rituals

Being in a different time zone and dedicating over 40 hours to meditation can be taxing, so we leaned into the support of our Eversio mushroom products. I brought 3MB and reishi, while Desiree brought her frother and matcha for the ultimate mushroom matcha mornings.

Morning:  3MB stirred into our matcha - Cordyceps for energy, Lion's Mane for focus, and Turkey Tail for immune support.

Evening:  Reishi to promote deep, restorative sleep.

These adaptogens supported our nervous systems and amplified the effects of meditation.

The Science of Transformation (Day 1 - 2)

The Matrix Analogy

The theme of this retreat was Mind Over Matrix. Inspired by the film The Matrix, the metaphor was clear: take the red pill, wake up to the truth of your reality, or take the blue pill and remain comfortably unaware. Most people don’t realize how deeply conditioned we are by society, family, and media.

Dr. Joe's work parallels this concept. The foundation of healing is in letting go of the conditioned self—the set of memorized behaviors and emotional responses that make up 95% of who we are by age 35.

The Power of Meditation and Brainwave States (Day 3)

We began early on Day 3 with meditations designed to break free of our environment, body, and time—the cornerstones of identity. This involves shifting from beta brainwave states (stress, distraction) to alpha and theta (creativity, healing). Advanced meditators may even access gamma states, akin to psychedelic experiences without substances.

Dr. Joe teaches a breathing technique to send cerebrospinal fluid up to the pineal gland, activating its neurochemical magic. This “inner pharmacy” releases melatonin, serotonin, and even DMT, creating deeply mystical experiences.

Walking As Your Future Self (Day 4 - 5)

One of our favorite practices was the walking meditation—literally embodying your future self. With heart-brain coherence and intention, we walked outside as if our goals had already manifested. Whether lying in the grass or walking across the bridge at the resort in Dallas, we were in flow.

Dr. Joe shared research from Dr. Hemal Patel, who noted a 30% shift in participants' microbiomes after just one week. The implication? Your thoughts influence your biology.

The Quantum Model of Reality (Day 5)

This was a pivotal day. Dr. Joe introduced quantum physics, including concepts like superposition and the observer effect. When we meditate with focused intention and elevated emotion, we collapse the wave function—turning possibility into reality.

A declassified CIA document on The Gateway Experience even validates these methods, highlighting how consciousness can influence matter.

Key Teaching:

"You don't get what you want. You get who you're being."

Becoming Supernatural (Day 6)

Day six began at 4 a.m. to align with peak melatonin levels, enhancing pineal activation. We meditated for five hours straight. This is where mystical, transcendent experiences often emerge. Gamma brainwaves surged in many participants, mirroring the neurological patterns seen in advanced meditators and those who consume psilocybin as part of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.

We also heard from Dr. Toby, who discussed disease detection via the microbiome, facial expression, and even voice tone. One mind-blowing point? Botox users experience higher depression due to limited facial expressiveness, impacting emotional signaling.

Integration and Embodiment (Day 7)

The final day emphasized walking meditations and embodiment—acting as if you are already your future self. We watched people rise from wheelchairs, cast off crutches, and step into miraculous change. The formula: Believe + Behave = Become.

We’re intentionally vague about the Coherence Healings. They’re deeply personal, sacred moments you need to experience for yourself. But believe us, they are real, powerful, and unlike anything else.

Final Thoughts: Everyone Can Heal

This experience reaffirmed that healing is for everyone. Whether you’re dealing with physical illness, emotional trauma, or simply searching for your best self, the tools exist within you. Meditation, intention, coherence, and conscious living are not fringe science—they are empirical tools for transformation.

Since returning, we’ve felt increased synchronicities, deeper heart coherence, and heightened joy. My personal mantra remains: "I am a healthy genius with infinite vitality." And every day, I act as if that is already true.
